BRAAAIIINNNSSS is a fun and entertaining way that a number of different fields presented information and problems in their respective fields while using a zombie outbreak as the backdrop From Feminism to the bio mechanical walking of zombies and Frankenstein, the essays in this book span just about every topic you can think of and makes you think about issues in our zombie free world that you might not have before Another wonderful aspect is that most of the essays have at least a dash of hum BRAAAIIINNNSSS is a fun and entertaining way that a number of different fields presented information and problems in their respective fields while using a zombie outbreak as the backdrop From Feminism to the bio mechanical walking of zombies and Frankenstein, the essays in this book span just about every topic you can think of and makes you think about issues in our zombie free world that you might not have before Another wonderful aspect is that most of the essays have at least a dash of humor or narrative in them that keeps the non academically inclined reading While there were two essays that stuck out to me as a bit too academic for the casual reader, for the most part it was easy to learn about law and the best landscape that would help or hinder running from zombies It was a good read for October, as Halloween is fast approaching, and an interest I have in zombie related video games It s a good read if you love zombies, zombie movies, or just want a good read about random areas of expertise Just as a word of caution, many of the authors are Canadian, so use that in mind while you read

This is an odd little book, but one that s right up my street It s a series of separate chapters written by academics on subjects as wide ranging as threats to democracy, reclaiming public spaces through performance and the biomechanics of human movement What unites such disparate subjects Zombies In each case, the authors have used some aspect of zombie culture, folklore or apocalypse fiction to bring their individual specialty to life for those who are unfamiliar with it It s a great way This is an odd little book, but one that s right up my street It s a series of separate chapters written by academics on subjects as wide ranging as threats to democracy, reclaiming public spaces through performance and the biomechanics of human movement What unites such disparate subjects Zombies In each case, the authors have used some aspect of zombie culture, folklore or apocalypse fiction to bring their individual specialty to life for those who are unfamiliar with it It s a great way to get you thinking about subjects you ve probably never even considered before I think my favourite chapter was called Fitting the theory to the facts as it provided not just a new insight into what causes zombism and how it might spread which had never occurred to me before, but it also provided a lesson in critical thinking and in particular, not letting pre conceived theories get in the way of understanding the facts before you This book won t be to everyone s taste, but if you like quirky books which bring something new to the zombie genre, this might just be for you

I didn t finish it, butbecause of another book I really need to start than because of any problem with this book Fabulous idea, and a great selection The chapter about risk management had me laughing aloud in public and getting corresponding weird looks I definitely recommend this book.

My friend Sean has a great chapter on bio mechanics

  6. Ken Ken says:

The difficulty is that the entertainment value of the essays varies a bit It still is a fairly enjoyable read but not earthshaking.
