I didn t know that this was based on a movie, so I didn t have that to compare it to However, I did read the Step Into Reading version of this book at the same time, and this version was vastly superior My 3 year old loved this story of Thomas who tries to help a new friend Luke figure out what happened when he had first arrived on Sodor and help him remain He asked for the book over and over, which was okay with me since it was a nice little story with a pretty good message.

If you ve watched Blue Mountain Mystery you know the story This book leaves out all the good drama and makes an exciting denouement in the movie turn into a banal boring yell at Diesel moment.

Normally I hate Thomas books for being too wordy This one was the exception Based off the Thomas movie The Blue Mountain Mystery , we learn the true story of a young Narrow Gauge engine named Luke which my son has at home, but I d never heard of him before and how he believes he is responsible for the yellow engine s fate As Thomas investigates, he learns the truth and goes to help his new friend Luke from Diesel s treachery Recommended for ages 3 7, 4 stars.

  5. Karen Karen says:

I m very glad to see that an Awdry was involved in the writing of this book I think it helps to maintain the integrity of the story This story, however, is rather like a xerox copy of an original On its own it is not bad and might even pass for good, but if you compare it to the original stories, it is easy to see how the quality suffers.
