The Diamond Sword, The Wooden Sword Chronicles of the Breaking, book 2 The book picks up right where the previous one left in fact I thought the tale was split between the two books only because not everybody likes carrying around 1000 page monster Thus anything I say related to the plot would be a big spoiler The main idea of the first book was that everybody and their brother hated human wizards Finally the people who could do something about it decided it was time to act and all the hell broke loose What happened in this book made the events of the previous one look innocent like a minor fighting in a kindergarten Initially though a big piece of world building was introduced and the idea of other worlds and their inhabitants was developed It turned out some of the previously shown people were not as simple as they seemed at the first glance The original in terms of story world was complex enough, but the multitude of them seemed practically overwhelming And so the people were dying left and right while trying to help other people including their allies meet their Maker sooner and sometimes succeeding This by the way includes major to the plot characters I cannot say there were many plot twists, but they do appear from time to time in the most unexpected moments Detailed analysis of the duology follows Plot While I cannot say the books kept me up all might I was never bored reading not a single paragraph was outright boring Characters This is probably the weakest part I could not truly connect to any of them There were quite a few interesting ones though and I was eager to get back to their POVs The outstanding feature The tale makes you look at the most gruesome deeds from the other point of view and rethink your impressions Even the most heinous actions could be if not justified, then at least understood Practically every major event will be given another perspective I rarely see such convincing work in modern literature In the end to nobody s surprise the rating is 4 stars I will read the next book of the series as soon as I can From what I understand it too picks up where this one left.

Ah, this is getting interesting And thrilling The book is well written and changes viewpoint character at the right moments just when you really want to know what s going to happen to them I ve finally started bonding with some of the characters too.I like the story and I m getting used to the way the book is written But yeah, the detailed and colorful descriptions from the battlefields and of hideous creatures do make me shudder now and then Looking forward to the next part of the series

  5. Sara Sara says:

A complex fantasy story with some, as I see it, connections to our reality It got exiting towards the middle As the first novel in the series it was somewhat hard to read However it was diffrent and unic Really liked the courting couple in the story.

  6. Petter Johansson Petter Johansson says:

Language swings between playful and horrific Something lost on translation perhaps Soft mythological magic, and Slavic folklore based fantasy Not sure I like it, but I m not far in.

  8. Raya P Morrison Raya P Morrison says:

The language doesn t get better, and the mild erotica doesn t help, but I still wanted to know how it ends.

  9. Louise Louise says:

Do not read It s hard to keep up with all the characters, hard to feel some kind of connection with them and it s extremely sexist I felt dirty and nauseous just reading it.
